Our History |
Starting at the age of 14, {with the help of his dad Johnny Kohnke} Herman Kohnke bought his first 1931 Model A tudor sedan for$125. And started collecting parts for a 1914 T Roadster. At the age of 19 he bought a 1921 T center door with all aluminium body. That was the beginning of a life long passion of rebuilding antique parts, chassis, and cars. Herman collected any, and all information leading to rebuilding of cars, including: traveling out of state gathering information, and collecting original tooling, and machines to grow in his endeavor. Today his perfectionism in his business shows in everything he does. Through his road to becoming a rebuilder of antique cars, he became a perfectionist in pouring and machining babbitt bearings. At a young age Herman was very fortunate to befriend many rebabbitting shops around the country, learning first hand the skills of rebabbitting with quality babbitt. Today he is working with his son John right along side him, passing his perfection and skills on to him.
